The all-lacquer finish is mildly tinted and worn in all the right spots (including some of the usual belt rash and arm wear). It has an era-specific 3-D faux Tortoise guard, aged “clay” dot markers, and hardware. Underneath, the 2-piece alder body is resonant and responsive, with Fender’s renowned “original body contours” for player comfort and a vintage feel. Fender loaded this collection topper with a hum-canceling “split coil” P-Bass pickup, hand-wound to 1962 specifications, adding another layer of authenticity.

For the last word in playability and feel, the early 60s “oval” C-shaped neck carve starts wide and thin with a .79” depth and 1.75” inch width at the bone nut that graduates to .990" at the 12th fret. On the back side, the thin nitro topcoat has a worn-smooth and ultra-smooth unfinished feel that you’ll never want to put down. The front side is capped with a flat laminated 9mm thick slab of AAA dark rosewood, features player favorite Dunlop 6105 fret wire, precision seated for balanced tone, up and down the neck.
