Since Behringer released its first synth in 2016, owning and exploring the world of vintage-style classic analog, digital, and hybrid digital synths has never been so accessible and affordable. For the adventurous musician who desires to discover the unlimited possibilities only found in fully modular “open-architecture” synthesis, Behringer has you covered with a full range of Euro-rack compatible, analog, modular solutions.
Behringer’s collection of golden-age analog modular synths includes fully outfitted, ready-to-explore synths like the Behringer System-55 and more. For musicians who want to build a unique, personalized modular synth or expand the potential of an existing system, Behringer offers a vast array of individual Voltage-Controlled modules for Eurorack. You’ll find a mix of voltage-controlled, analog oscillators, filters, envelopes, amplifiers, sequencers, triggers (even a few Hybrid and Digital modules), and more.
The Behringer 960 is based on the groundbreaking 1973 Systum-55 Sequencer Controller, which inspired Keith Emerson, Wendy Carlos, Stevie Wonder, and a long list of electronic music pioneers. Synth players who want old-school sequential control without seeking a hard-to-find and prohibitively expensive vintage example will be delighted by Behringer’s attention to detail and easily accessible price.
Meticulously recreated with the same discrete circuitry and ready for integration with your Eurorack modular system, the Behringer 960 Sequential controller is an 8-step sequencer with 3 control voltage dials for pitch adjustment at each step. Setting and tweaking sequential variations is a hands-on, simple operation. Using the 3-way mode switch under each stage allows you to pass or skip the next stage or freeze the sequence. With the independently controllable set buttons, you can manually trigger or skip the sequence at each step, adding colorful variations to your patterns. An additional “9th” step provides further control with master stop and skip settings.
On top of the gritty vintage-style arpeggio sequences and massive-sounding drum loops, you’ll be able to create, the 960 is more than just a standalone sequence controller. The 960 has an onboard voltage-controlled pulse oscillator that can be adjusted for range, pitch, and “Frequency vernier” (fine-tuning). Manually start and stop the VCO on the control surface or remotely with an external gate, plus a CV input for connection with another module. When (and if) you need more sequencing power, adding Behringer’s super affordable 962 Sequential Switch (sold separately) transforms the 960 from 8 to 24 steps of massive sequencing flexibility and control.
- An authentically recreated version of the classic 1970s analog Sequencer in modern Eurorack format
- 8-step sequencing with 3 rows of CV controls with a master stop command
- Separate CV range switches for each step
- Skip, Normal (play), and Stop function switches for each step
- Manual triggers and 2 CV outputs per row, with separate gates in and out per step
- Pulse oscillator with manual and CV control (frequency, Play, and Stop)
- Expands to 24-step sequences when used with the Behringer 962 module
- 56HP Eurorack size
