Pro Tools Audio Suite SoundCode for DTS Encoder
Faster Than Real Time Encode
The SoundCode Encoder offers a fast way to encode audio as DTS or WAV files within a Pro Tools session, ready for use with DVD audio or video authoring applica- tions or any other application that uses the DTS standard.
Because the SoundCode Encoder operates as an AudioSuiteTM plug-in, you can encode DTS audio faster than real time* to accelerate your workflow.
SoundCode encodes to DTS compact (.cpt) and padded (.dts) file types.
SoundCode also encodes to 16- or 24-bit stereo interleaved WAV files so you can lay back the DTS stream to digital tape. With the SoundCode Encoder, you can adjust the channel mode, bit rate, dialnorm, and preprocessing settings to deliver a DTS stream exactly as needed for your delivery requirement.
The SoundCode Encoder also gives you the option to decode and import the DTS file back into the Pro Tools timeline for a quick verification.
Punch In/Out Capabilities
The SoundCode Encoder includes a time- saving Punch In/Out feature that allows you to punch in fixes to an existing DTS file or encode and append audio to an existing DTS file. If you’ve already encoded the audio for a two-hour program but need to replace a single line of dialog, SoundCode lets you encode just that line, without having to re-encode the entire two-hour soundtrack.
SoundCode automatically “punches in” that line to the correct location within the previously encoded file.
Sample-Accurate Direct File Decode
The real-time RTAS® decoder allows you to decode and monitor a DTS file syn- chronized sample accurate to the timeline during Pro Tools playback. Just point the SoundCode Decoder to the DTS file and press Play in Pro Tools.
The decoder reads the file, decodes it, and outputs it in real- time synchronized no matter where in the timeline you start playing. Combined with Pro Tools’ video playback capabilities, the SoundCode Decoder can be used as part of a mastering-quality confidence monitoring system.
The SoundCode Decoder also operates as an AudioSuite plug-in, so you can decode all or a portion of a DTS file into the Pro Tools timeline, or view the metadata of a DTS file.
Decoding Options
The SoundCode Decoder offers two de- coding modes: normal (standard consumer decoder mode) and data stream (which passes the DTS data stream and formats it as stereo PCM digital audio).
It provides a legacy decoding control so that 5.1 ES, 6.1 ES, and 96/24 streams can be decoded as legacy DTS 5.1 at 48 kHz. And it provides stereo and 5.1 down-mix options that simulate consumer listening setups.
The SoundCode Decoder also features output level metering and dialog normalization display.

SoundCode for DTS provides the ability encode 6.1 discrete channels of audio at a 48 kHz sample rate so now you take advantage of the rear center channel for better localization and spatialization of your surround mix.
SoundCode for DTS also allows you to encode a 96 kHz / 24- bit mix for up to 5.1 channels when the highest audio quality is necessary.
6.1 ES Discrete mode and 96/24 mode are backwards compatible with all legacy DTS consumer systems so you can deliver out- standing surround mixes to all consumers with a single stream.

A single iLok key can be used to authorize all tools on any computer system with SoundCode for DTS installed.
