IMHO, Alto Music in Middletown, NY--Rt 17 just up the Road from NYC makes ANY other music store pale by comparison. It should be a National Monument and is a must-see for musicians of every ilk.

         I would not expect you to remember me, but my name is Alan , and my son Michael and I came to your store last July to browse a bit, and walked out with a Gibson 61 SG reissue from PK ...  Yes, we paid for it before we walked out !!! This past Saturday we came up again, same as last time "just to look" , and walked out with a Gibson Firebird !!!  

I just wanted to tell you again what a great store you have, and what great people you have working there, especially Phil "PK"  Keller.  he is great and made my son and his friend feel as though they were stars themselves, and he was helping them for their next gig.  Besides being a great guy, Phil is also very informative and although I know allot about musical instruments, he knows allot more !! 
 
 We bought the guitar because it was a great instrument at a great price, but PK was also instrumental in our reason to purchase it in your store. I am sure from time to tome you get complaints about certain things, but you should also know when someone goes out of their way for a customer, regardless of age or money in their pocket. Looking around, I was also THRILLED to see things that I never see in any other music store ... Like the Epiphone John Lennon J160 acoustic guitar, and the new  Gibson SG bass ... I have never seen these by me in Central NJ, or even on 48th street !!! Thanks again for having a great store and everything that goes with it ....   We'll be up again ( JUST TO LOOK !!! )  this Summer !

I visited the Middletown store on Jan. 2 2006; with the goal of acquiring several sets of acoustic guitar strings, to restring a friend's guitar.  Also, if a Korg TM-40 metronome/tuner was available, at the right price, I might purchase that "tunernome" as well. I didn't see the TM40 on the shelves, nor did I ask for it. I ended up purchasing 3 sets of D'Addario strings and some picks; which is what I wanted to purchase. At checkout I was informed that D'Addario strings were on sale for 2-3 (or whatever). The transaction ended with me getting about the same price for product(s) that I would have obtained online. In fact; there are many in-store products at AltoMusic that are far cheaper than online. I am now a loyal customer; at least until someone undercuts Alto's prices by 20%. This "concerned" salesmanship is what will make me return to Alto. AltoMusic Corporation probably lost a few dollars of profit by not selling me the Elixir strings. But the profit Alto will make from future sales will "balance the sheet." In retrospect (i.e.after comparing online prices) AltoMusic matched or beat other online prices. Quite frankly; I felt ripped off after leaving the store. It seemed as if I spent too much. But when I got home and checked the prices online, I realized what a bargain I obtained. I wish you guys would put in-stock merchandise and price of said merchandise on-line!!!! This way we can compare Alto's prices to online merchants. Alto's prices are competetive or better that online! Let us know this without having to visit! Even if Alto didn't have the best price I would probably purchase from Alto again. "Customer service" has been achieved.

Just wanted to write to let you know how happy and pleased I am with my current setup, the Neve is off da chain, now I see why this peice is the most sort after peice since slice bread, all I can say is WOW!!! My recordings are so so much better, having this neve has opened up a whole new world for me. I forgot to mention that I am also pleased with the MPC2500, it rocks. I've been doing a whole lot of studying on Protools and have improved on getting the most out of my system by far. Needless to say, I know this woudl not have been possible if you guys were not working along side me to be ble to acheive my goals.

So I am writing to say thanks for making me feel and look important, I'm sure there are many others who probably spend much more than I can even imagine but I feel as though you guys treat me as if I had spent 1,000.000, nevertheless I wish Alto much success as you guys have been very kind to me over the years.

I have been buying/trading/collecting quality guitars and amplifiers for approximately twenty years and feel compelled to commend the excellent standard of service received by Phil Keller.  I have had the pleasure of dealing with Phil prior to his employment at Alto Music and have "followed" him to your store when I am prepared to purchase equipment, despite the inconvenience of a long drive.   Phil's product knowledge and genuinely accommodating sales demeanor is unrivaled.  Ironically, I unfortunately make numerous purchases only to realize that Phil's initial suggestions were the most satisfactory for me.
 
The musical instrument retail industry is plagued with unqualified salespeople who are unfamiliar with the numerous brands and models (particularly electronics) and who tend to "steer" customers towards stocked inventories.  Not so with Phil.  His honest sales approach and competitive pricing is noteworthy.  Please understand that I rarely write letters of review unless I am greatly satisfied.  I may research products elsewhere but will shop exclusively at Alto as long as you have a sales staff that follows the footsteps of Phil Keller.
